An extension of Agile & Scrum

Our Intent‑Driven
Agile Manifesto

Inspired by Agile, informed by Scrum, enabled by Spec‑Driven Development.

When execution accelerates, clarity must arrive earlier.

  • AI‑assisted delivery
  • Spec‑driven
  • Scrum‑aligned

Why this manifesto exists

Speed scaled. Clarity did not.

The Agile Manifesto emerged in 2001 as a response to heavyweight, document‑driven delivery that optimized planning over value and control over learning. Its authors did not seek to prescribe process; they articulated values to help teams respond to complexity, uncertainty, and change.

Over time, Agile and Scrum dramatically increased delivery speed. Today, AI‑assisted execution has multiplied that speed again. What has not scaled at the same pace is clarity of intent.

When work accelerates faster than decisions are made explicit, ambiguity compounds. Teams move quickly but not always in the same direction. Rework increases, trust erodes, and learning arrives later than it should.

This manifesto exists to address that gap.

It extends Agile values and Scrum practices into an environment where

  • AI amplifies both clarity and confusion

  • Execution is cheap, but mistakes scale

  • Most delays originate before development begins

By emphasizing problem framing, hypothesis discipline, and spec‑driven clarity, this manifesto restores balance between speed and understanding — so teams can move fast without losing control.

This is not a replacement for Agile or Scrum. It is an intent‑driven evolution, grounded in the same values, designed for the realities of modern delivery.

Where it sits

An intent‑driven extension — not a replacement

An Intent‑Driven Extension of Agile & Scrum for AI‑Assisted, Spec‑Driven Delivery

  • Not a replacement for the Agile Manifesto
  • Not a new Scrum framework
  • A contextual manifesto for how we apply Agile and Scrum when specs and AI are central to delivery

This mirrors how Disciplined Agile positions itself as contextual guidance, not doctrine. This is not a strict document but rather a foundational document to follow and build up from. Flexibility is key.

How it compares

Built on Agile. Explicit where others are silent.

Closing

This manifesto does not replace Agile or Scrum. It completes them for an AI‑assisted world.

When execution accelerates, clarity must arrive earlier.

We commit to paying the cost of thinking sooner because it is cheaper, faster, and safer there.
